Dying Light 2 Will Receive Free Next-Gen Upgrades

By Keith MitchellMay 29, 2021
Dying Light 2 Stay Human

While Techland’s Dying Light Platinum Edition hasn’t seen any next-gen upgrades for the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Things will be different for the sequel, Dying Light 2.

According to Techland’s reply to IGN’s Associate Tech Editor Taylor Lyles, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will see a next-gen upgrade. What’s more, is this upgrade will be free.

SCOOP: Techland has confirmed to me that there is a free next-gen upgrade path for Dying Light 2 Stay Human.https://t.co/hJUf37iXdK

Obviously, the Xbox version was a no-brainer (Smart Delivery) but I wanted the clarity in case PS4 owners bought it for that platform and then got their hands on a PS5 down the road. So I asked out of curiosity.

It’s good to know that the next-gen upgrades will be available and we know that Xbox will handle the upgrade via Smart Delivery. The unknown here is PlayStation, but for this title, the upgrade patch has been spelled out. Both the PS4 and Xbox versions will see a free upgrade and will likely similar to previous generation games, will either have a separate version that acts as an upgrade or will see an upgrade patch. Or if you’re planning on playing on the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, you won’t need to worry about this.

Dying Light 2 will be playable on December 7th, 2021, for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Are you looking forward to the game? Let us know in the comments below.
