505 Games Acquires Ghostrunner IP

505 Games has acquired the Ghostrunner IP from Polisher publisher, All In! Games, to the sum of €5 million (nearly $6 million) as part of a deal that was announced today.

According to GamesIndustry Biz, who broke this story, 505 Games will gain ownership of the Ghostrunner IP, and All In Games will receive a portion of the game profiles from ongoing sales. This apparently is the second time that 505 Games attempted to purchase the IP. However, the two companies were unable to come to a favorable decision previously.

“Ghostrunner quickly turned out to be huge success, which convinced [505 Games] to submit an offer—one of those ‘hard to refuse’ [offers],” Zygadlo said.

Both 505 Games and All In! Games handled the publishing for the title, developed by One More Level and Slipgate Ironworks.

Ghostrunner, a game that several of us at the outlet, could get hands-on during PAX East 2021. It’s also a game that we’ve fallen in love with, despite it being tough as nails. The only concern I have regarding this deal is the already announced free next-gen upgrade for Ghostrunner. 505 Games is the same company that only allowed Control Ultimate Edition owners to upgrade to the next-gen versions for free. Leaving those who already paid for Control and all the DLCs, in the cold.

Hopefully, this doesn’t change the already mentioned offering for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Ghostrunner upgrade. Or force the game to leave Steam, only to end up in the Epic Games Store as the only place to purchase it for the PC.
