Everspace 2 Early Access heads to Steam and GOG on January 18

Rocketfish Games’ Space Combat shooter Everspace 2 is heading to Steam and GOG as an Early Access title. The game is slated to arrive on both services on January 18th, 2021, priced at $39.99.

According to the developer, the game includes enough content to keep people entertained despite being an early access title. Unlike the first game, Everspace 2 will include voice acting (English), which covers the first for 12+ hours of the game’s story. There’s also plenty to do, with up to 25 hours of gameplay being provided, from exploring the vastness of space, mining, trading, ship customization, and more.

As someone who grew up among some of the best space-combat games of all time, I can’t wait. We’re talking about the Wing Commander, Privateer, FreeSpace, and X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter, naming a few. I’m already salivating at getting my hands on this game, as it capitalizes on everything that made the first game great and then some. More locations, more features, better visuals, varied baddies who want to take you down, and a story! Something that was sorely missing from the original Everspace title.

Yes, HOTA Support Is In

You didn’t think I’d mention Everspace 2 and not make any mention of HOTA stick support, did you? Yep, HOTA support is in, and the early access title will support several existing Thrustmaster and Logitech HOTAs. Check out the list of which sticks will be supported below.

  • T.Flight Hotas X
  • T.Flight Hotas One
  • T.Flight Hotas 4
  • Hotas Warthog
  • T16000M (Single)
  • T16000M (Dual Config)
  • Logitech Extreme 3D Pro
  • Logitech/Saitek X56
  • Logitech/Saitek X52
  • Logitech/Saitek X52 Professional

More support will come during the development of the title and the eventual official release.

That said, with every early access game, there will likely be some issues/bugs/glitches that will need to be worked out. That’s just the nature of early access; one part tease, one part bug-finding, and part of giving fans a taste of what’s to come. I’m good with that, as it allows me to get play a title I’m looking forward to while also helping the developers out.

The full and completed version of Everspace 2 will be released sometime in 2022. Until then, we’ll be busy playing with the early access version of the game.
