New Assassin’s Creed Series Coming to Netflix

By Conner BOctober 27, 2020

Here’s hoping it’s better than the movie

Netflix announced on Twitter today that they’ve have partnered with Ubisoft to create a new Netflix series set in the Assassin’s Creed Universe. So far all we’ve seen about the project is a tweet teasing the new show:

It has not been confirmed yet whether or not  the series will be a live action, similar to the Witcher series, or animated like we have seen with the Castlevania series. There has also been no word on if this series will tell it’s own story or if it will follow on from any of the existing media such as the film or the games, personally I’m hoping for a stand alone project that adds to the universe.

Jason Altman, Head of Ubisoft Film & Television – Los Angeles had this to say:

“For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the Assassin’s Creed brand into an iconic franchise, We’re thrilled to create an Assassin’s Creed series with Netflix and we look forward to developing the next saga in the Assassin’s Creed universe.”

For those still wondering about a sequel to the Assassin’s Creed film, I wouldn’t hold your breath as the rights were held with Fox. Now that Fox has been acquired by Disney it’s not 100% clear who now holds the rights to the film but it’s unlikely that Disney would pick up the sequel if they had the chance.

The resident Brit of Outerhaven, however, don't expect refinement from me as I swear like a sailor and I will die on the hill I chose to fight on.
