Darkest Dungeon II heads to the Epic Games Store as an Early Access Title

It’s been quite some time since Red Hook Studios, the studio behind Darkest Dungeon, had mentioned any news regarding the sequel to the tougher than nails game.

Today, the silence has been broken and now we know that Darkest Dungeon II is heading to the Epic Games Store as an Early Access title. I know this is likely going to upset some fans as the first game was available on Steam. Honestly, this is the first I’ve heard of this being an Epic Games Store exclusive.

It’s time to face the failures of the past.

Announced in 2019, Darkest Dungeon II will see the return of several familiar classes; Grave Robber, Hellion, Highwayman, Leper, Man-At-Arms, and Plaque Doctor. And while the first game took place in one location, the sequel will involve a journey of sorts.

I don’t know why I’m excited about this as the first game literally put me through hell. Constantly losing my best characters, getting stressed out, sometimes even feeling like the game was purposely trying to push my shit in. Though I kept coming back, over and over just to suffer through it some more. It’s that good, yet it does require some mental toughness on your part. Then again, I’m also that guy who’s a huge fan of Dark Souls.

Though, don’t expect to get your hands on the title anytime soon, as Early Access isn’t slated to start until sometime in 2021.

While you wait, why not check out the first game, if you haven’t already.  It’s currently available on Steam for $24.99, and also features two expansions to suffer through as well. Or you can also pick up the game on the PS4, Xbox One, or the Nintendo Switch.
