Next-gen version of The Witcher 3 is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC

By Poch SaldanaSeptember 4, 2020

One of the most acclaimed titles from this generation is getting a visual makeover for the upcoming hardware. Witness butt-naked Geralt better than he has ever looked before.

The Witcher 3: Complete Edition will come as a stand-alone package for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC but pre-existing owners will receive the upgrade completely for free.

The Witcher 3 is coming to the next generation!

A visually and technically enhanced version of the game will be available for purchase for PC and next-gen consoles & as a free update for owners of the game on PC, @Xbox One and @PlayStation 4.

The package comes with all the expansions and extra content released for the RPG as well. There aren’t a lot of details as to what exactly will be improved as the official website broadly states, ‘ the next-gen edition of the game will feature a range of visual and technical improvements’ but we can expect ray tracing and faster load times.

It should be noted that CD Projekt Red’s upcoming project, the hotly awaited Cyberpunk 2077, will also be receiving a free update for next-gen consoles at launch in addition to a more ‘robust’ update coming at a later date. The Polish studio’s dedication to continually support their existing products is a laudable practice especially since their titles often garner an incredibly dedicated fanbase.

A release date for the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 has yet to be specified.

Big fan of games, writing, and writing about games! Two things Poch will always stand by--the Vita was ahead of its time and the world is a better place with a new Rhythm Heaven on the horizon.
