YouTube Channel Expands to Cover OELN Titles

By Josh PiedraAugust 29, 2020

YouTuber LC Gatsu recently expanded his YouTube channel to include reviews of Original English Light Novels (OELNs). Previously, he dedicated his channel to anime, manga, and comics; however, after checking out Michiel Webrouck’s Lord of Goblins, he decided to incorporate OELNs into his channel. This is just another example of how OELNs are continuing to grow in popularity and becoming part of the anime/manga medium!

LC Gatsu had this to say about the rebranding of his channel:

My name is LC Gatsu. I started my youtube channel back in January 2017 to talk about my love of Anime and Manga. Back then I was known as LC AniManga. The reason I chose this name is pretty simple, my initials are LC and I combined the words Anime and Manga. I thought I was so clever with that name. After a while I decided to rebrand as LC Comics to, as you can probably guess, talk all about comics. In June of 2019 I rebranded once again, for what I plan to be the final time, as LC Gatsu, a name that I thought wouldn’t limit me to any specific topic. Since then I have been making videos all about Anime & Manga again, but even starting talking about Light Novels and OELNs too!

My channel primarily focuses on the collecting side of these industries but, just over a month ago, around the 1 year anniversary of my rebranding as LC Gatsu, I had the opportunity to review an OELN called “Lord of Goblins” and instantly fell in love with the medium. You can check that out here: https://youtu.be/zNTdcXPBHDQ. I have since had the chance to review another OELN, one called Rebirth of the Undead King by the author Ink Bamboo.

The latest OELN review to make its way to LC Gatsu’s channel was Ink Bamboo’s Rebirth of the Undead King. The book can be described as follows:

When a young village boy finds the remains of a fallen god, he receives the opportunity to enact revenge against the monarchy of his kingdom. Tyrants, nobles, and criminals will come after him, breaking his innocence as he’s forced to confront not only societies’ dark side, but his own. As the struggle with his inner-demons grows, he must make a choice…To uphold his ideals or embrace the legacy of his benefactor. Rebirth of the Undead King is a dark fantasy novel with cultivation elements. Following the tradition of Light Novels like Overlord and Cultivation Novels like Will Wight’s Cradle series, it builds upon a whole new world. One where humanity’s greed is never to be hidden.

You can check out both reviews of Rebirth of the Undead King and Lord of Goblins below. Be sure to subscribe as he will be doing more OELN reviews in the future!
