The Outerhaven talks Mixer and why the service isn’t growing

By Keith MitchellMay 18, 2020
Mixer

During our most recent recording of the Spectator Mode podcast, we had a serious discussion regarding the state of Microsoft’s streaming platform, Mixer. Mainly due to how we’ve had our hopes and doubts about the service for the better part of 1.5 years and we’ve always wondered about the growth of the service. From what Streamlab’s “State of Stream April 2020” report indicates, the growth isn’t there, and compared to the other services, Mixer seems to have stagnated.

We’ve held similar conversations in an internal setting, but this time we’ve felt it was time to externally express our concerns and frustrations with Mixer. Mainly due to some of us wanting the service to succeed, yet, it doesn’t seem that Microsoft either understands what needs to happen or perhaps isn’t truly in touch with the streaming community.

We felt that this was a conversation that our readers and listeners would enjoy and have some insight into. In this conversation, we went in-depth with concerns and problems we’ve seen with the service, which made the podcast entirely longer than expected. As such we decided to release that segment on its own. So give it a listen, we’d love to know what you think about Mixer.

Do you currently stream on Mixer? Have you thought about it? Or perhaps you once streamed on Mixer and ultimately got frustrated with the service. Either way, let us know in the comments.

Thanks for listening. If you’d like to come on the show as a guest or have topics you’d like for us to discuss, contact us here. If you enjoy the show, please think about giving us a rating on iTunes.
