Koei Tecmo’s Fairy Tail anime RPG delayed to July 2020 [Updated]

Update: Looks like the upcoming anime-based RPG has hit yet another delay and won’t be released until July 30/31, 2020.

KOEI TECMO America and developer GUST Studios are excited to announce the first details to a host of enchanting new magical abilities featured in their otherworldly upcoming JRPG, FAIRY TAIL. The game is set to launch across North America on July 31, 2020, for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, and on July 30, 2020, for Windows PC via Steam.

Original story below:

If you were looking forward to Koei Tecmo’s upcoming anime RPG, Fairy Tail, then you’re going to be waiting a bit longer as the game is now delayed. Originally scheduled for a March 20, 2020 release, has been pushed back to June 26, 2020.

KT sent us an email stating the game has been delayed. Reasons cited as they want to put some more polish into the game. GUST Studios is developing the game, and from what I saw the game looked and played well. If this delay is going to make the game even better, who are we to complain.

Here’s what Keisuke Kikuchi, the producer of Fairy Tail, had to say about the delay:”

“I am truly sorry for FAIRY TAIL’s delay, and the inconvenience caused to our fans, partners, and stakeholders who are looking forward to this title. Please allow us to take further time to polish the game to ensure it is as high quality as possible, so we can offer you a truly immersive experience. We will be working hard to enhance the magic effects, event scene effects, improving the game balance, and more! We will talk about the improvements in more detail in the coming months. This delay will allow us to ensure we provide you a much more satisfying game. Thank you for your understanding.”

Now, I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but again, delays are good. The fact that more developers and publishers understand that delays can be beneficial if you use that time to better the game. It’s not the first game to be delay early on in 2020 and I doubt it will be the last.

In Fairy Tail, players can build a five-character team from a roster of their favorite anime characters.  While venturing across the Kingdom of Fiore in their quest to rise to the top guild in the region. As characters fight together in the same party, their bonds gradually strengthen, and as their friendship level increases, special conversations will play out, including original dialogue written specifically for this game.

Fairy Tail will be released on July 31st, 2020, for the PS4, Switch, and PC (Steam) on July 30, 2020. There is no Xbox One version planned.
