Did Hideki Kamiya and Ikumi Nakamura just tease an Okami sequel

Just a few days ago, Capcom reaffirmed their desire to revisit their dormant IPs. Sure, they released Monster Hunter World and multiple Resident Evil games, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Now it seems like we’re getting some unofficial confirmation of another Capcom favorite; Okami.

Here we can see Ikumi Nakamura, alongside Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya who proudly exclaims that “Okami is going to be back”.

Okami is going to be back! We want to make Okami sequel and fans are looking forward to it too. You guys want to see Kamiya’s Okami again, right, everyone? I want to work on it too! 大神をまた作りたい私たちです。🙏😊@CapcomUSA_ @OKAMI_CAP pic.twitter.com/bLwuGnTew1

Now, we haven’t heard anything from Capcom on this, so it’s too soon to get excited over this possible announcement. However, I’m sure Kamiya would know about this more than most and I doubt he’d joke about this.

Okami was originally developed by Clover Studio, which is the very same studio that Capcom folded, with many of the original team going on to form Platinum Games. So having Kamiya working on this new Okami title would be a union of sorts.

It’s worth mentioning that Capcom also released Okami HD, not too long ago. This update added in several features including 4K support and enhanced textures. It was released for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Here’s to hoping this is happening. because if it is, I got one more game that Capcom can revisit That being Viewtiful Joe, another game that was developed by the late Clover team.
