Monster Hunter World, Prey, and More Coming to Xbox Game Pass

By Diego PerezApril 10, 2019
Monster Hunter World ships 10 million copies

Xbox Game Pass is getting a slew of new quality titles this month, headlined by the incredible action-RPG Monster Hunter World.

Game Pass

Monster Hunter World is a westernized take on Capcom’s niche franchise, modernizing the series and making it more accessible to newcomers. Monster Hunter World boasts a significant amount of content, well into the hundreds of hours, and you can play it all with a group of four. Be sure to get in there soon to prepare for the upcoming Iceborne expansion, which launches this fall. Master each weapon type and hope for the best drops when Monster Hunter World hits Xbox Game Pass on April 18.

Prey flew under a lot of people’s radars when it launched in the summer of 2017. The launch of the Nintendo Switch and the bevy of high-quality titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and Nier: Automata available unfortunately overshadowed this title. Prey is a spiritual successor to Bioshock and System Shock (more so the latter than the former), and it features the same worldbuilding, exploration, and player freedom as both. Explore the halls of the Talos I spaceship and battle shapeshifting alien mimics when Prey comes to Xbox Game Pass on April 11.

Life is Strange 2‘s first episode is already included in the Game Pass library, but now you’ll be able to play the next chapter in Dontnod’s story. Make tough decisions and experience a touching tale about brotherhood and family when Life is Strange 2‘s second episode comes to Xbox Game Pass on April 24.

Resident Evil 5 might not be the most well-received entry in the series, but it’s also not the worst. Featuring a more action-focused gameplay style that’s more Resident Evil 4 than Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 5 shines a light on the Resident Evil we haven’t seen in a while. You can also play the entire game in co-op, which is always a plus. Resident Evil 5 launches on Xbox Game Pass on April 25.

Telltale’s The Walking Dead holds a special place in a lot of people’s hearts. Lee and Clementine’s story resonated with so many people, and now Xbox Game Pass members can play through the third entry in the critically-acclaimed adventure series. The Walking Dead‘s first and second seasons are already on Xbox Game Pass, so be sure to catch up because The Walking Dead: A New Frontier comes to Xbox Game Pass on April 18.

Of course, Xbox Game Pass has something for everyone, and while most probably won’t bat an eye for this next title, some have a lot to look forward to. The Golf Club 2 is the premier golfing game on the market right now, featuring an in-depth course creator and an array of online features. Go for par when The Golf Club 2 comes to Xbox Game Pass on April 11.

Here’s the full list of dates:

Prey – April 11th

The Golf Club 2 – April 11th

Monster Hunter World – April 18th

The Walking Dead A New Frontier – April 18th

Life is Strange Episode 2 – April 24th

Resident Evil 5 – April 25th

When he's not playing video games, Diego's talking about video games, and he does both a lot.
