Redhook Studios Is Working On Darkest Dungeon II

By Keith MitchellFebruary 19, 2019
Darkest Dungeon II announcement

Get ready for another hellish time

In a recent tweet, Redhook Studios has announced that they are working on a sequel to their hellish roguelike turn-based RPG, Darkest Dungeon. Yes, friends, Darkest Dungeon II is now in production.

Now, I’m sure I don’t have to remind you that Darkest Dungeon has been known for making the most diehard fan break down in cold sweats. The stress, the anxiety, the constant deaths of characters that you’ve worked your ass off to level up. Yet, for some reason, we’ve all gone back to play it over and over. Well, maybe that’s just me.

As of right now, Redhook Studios isn’t dropping many details about the game. Thankfully, PC Gamer was able to speak to the developer and they did let it slip a few things. The combat system, which was already amazing, is getting a revamp and will be “completely different”.

In addition, Darkest Dungeon II will be released as an early access title. Which is great for feedback and see how many people enjoy.. er, suffer while playing the title. Early access games, while seen as paid betas for many, do help developers as long as proper feedback is provided. And seeing how Redhook Studios and Darkest Dungeon have a huge following, I have zero doubts that the community won’t be behind the game.

No word on if we’ll see Darkest Dungeon II on Steam or if this will be another title that will make the jump to the Epic Games Store. We’ll just have to find out.

As for the original game, you can pick it up for a steal right now. It’s priced under $10 on Steam and if you haven’t checked it out, but happen to enjoy roguelike turn-based RPGs. This may be right up your alley. Or is that a spear in your back?
