Super Smash Bros Ultimate Has The Most Pre-Orders On The Switch Ever

By Todd BlackNovember 24, 2018
Super Smash Bros Ultimate World Of Light

We are only two weeks away (actually a little less) from the release of Super Smash Bros Ultimate on Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has been building this game up hype wise for many months. They’ve been slowly revealing the modes, the characters, the moves, the Assist Trophies and Pokemon, and much more. The hype is without a doubt at a fever pitch, and this has been proven not just by the overall buzz around the game, but by the pre-order sales!

The game is already sold out on Amazon, and Reggie Fils-Aime admitted that the pre-orders were looking good a little while back. But now, Nintendo has full-on come out and said on Twitter that Super Smash Bros Ultimate is the biggest pre-ordered game in the history of the Switch.

Super #SmashBrosUltimate is punching its way into the record books! Thank you to all the amazing fans for your support in making this a fight for the ages! Be sure to have your #NintendoSwitch ready to experience the action when the game launches on 12/7.https://t.co/z26JLSHE3W pic.twitter.com/AqkeDlKYSb

To put that into comparison, Super Mario Odyssey had tons of pre-0rders before its release, and it sold a couple million in its first few days. Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee had a bunch of pre-orders, and it sold over 3 million in its first three days. So Ultimate is most definitely tracking to do more than them. Could it hit 5 million sold in its first few days?

Guess we’ll find out when it launches on December 7th!
