SEGA Genesis & Mega Drive Classics Making its Way to Nintendo Switch

By Clinton Bowman-ChristieOctober 14, 2018

Remember the Sega NOMAD, that portable Sega Genesis that you could take with you anywhere? SEGA is primed to let you experience a lighter way of doing that by bringing the Sega Genesis & Mega Drive Classics library to the Nintendo Switch.

Soon you'll be able to re-live some retro classics on the go! Which games in SEGA Mega Drive Classics are you looking forward to playing most on the Nintendo Switch?

— SEGA (@SEGA) October 14, 2018

Originally released for Steam PCs, and having recently been brought over to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the Sega Genesis & Mega Drive Classics collection contains a massive collection of the Genesis’ best games, including the complete Sonic the Hedgehog collection, Vectorman, Gain Ground, Golden Axe and more. I’ve had it on Steam for several years, and it’s probably the best collection of the older Genesis games that most of us older gamers grew up with. With the popularity of the Nintendo Switch, I wouldn’t doubt that the current generation of gamers would enjoy an opportunity to play some of the games their parents grew up with. Pricing hasn’t been announced for the Nintendo Switch version, but it will be released this winter.

Check out the list of classics that will be available for the game, based on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game:

  • Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
  • Alien Soldier
  • Alien Storm
  • Altered Beast
  • Beyond Oasis
