Splatoon 2 Producer Honored To See Inklings In Mario Kart And Smash Bros

By Todd BlackMarch 26, 2018
Splatoon 2 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Splatoon is the biggest new franchise that’s coming out of Nintendo in the last generation (sorry ARMS fans, your time will come though!), and because of that, it’s getting a lot of spotlight and attention. Splatoon 2 ended the most recent Nintendo Direct, where it revealed the Octo Expansion. The Inklings were added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and now, they’re the first confirmed new characters to be the next Smash Bros game.

With the reach of Splatoon, Splatoon 2, and its characters reaching across the Nintendo universe, you have to wonder what the team behind the games think of this development. Well, Game Informer talked with Hisashi Nogami, who is the producer of the game, and noted that he was honored to and proud to see the Inklings in other games:

Seeing our characters get brought into Mario Kart or Smash Bros. is kind of self-affirming to us that we made some good choices with these characters. It’s rewarding to see them accepted and grow stronger by their inclusion in these other franchises.

For those enjoying Splatoon 2, there’s a new map set to arrive soon, and Update 3.0 will be coming in April! As for the Octo Expansion, that’ll be arriving in the Summer sometime.
