New Trailer for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Finally Shows Some Team-Ups

By Sara Roncero-MenendezMarch 17, 2018

The big selling point for The Avengers was that we were going to see Captain America, the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and the rest all coming together to defeat evil. And so, yet again, it’s hard to escape the chaotic magic you feel finally seeing some of your favorite characters from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming together like we do in this latest trailer for Avengers: Infinity War:

In the first trailer, we only say Thor briefly meeting the Guardians of the Galaxy, which was disappointing since the whole point is that everyone is supposed to be a part of this movie. This trailer, now with the film’s new release date, show lots of different interactions. Iron Man, Spiderman, Star Lord and Drax all discussing plans. Captain America and Bucky teaming up with Black Panther. Teenaged Groot staring in awe as Thor lights up the sky with lightening.

We also get a look at Loki with some of Thanos’ henchmen, as we later see one of the group torturing Doctor Strange. Does this mean Loki’s progress from Thor: Ragnarok has gone down the toilet? Potentially, anyways. Thanos himself looks more imposing as he tries to outpour Captain America and his mighty new beard.

It looks like Black Panther and his world are getting a little more time in the spotlight, likely due to the critical and financial success of Black Panther just a short time ago. Whatever gets us more time with Shuri gets my vote. And more time indeed — the current run time of the film clocks in at over 2.5 hours.

The big question remains: where is the soul gem? Currently, we know that The Collector had the Aether, aka the Reality Stone, before his shop blew up. The Tesseract, aka the Space Stone, is either in Loki’s possession or on Asgard. The Power Stone was left on Xander with the Nova Corps courtesy of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The Mind Stone is currently what is giving life to The Vision. The Time Stone is in the Eye of Agamotto, which is protected by Doctor Strange. But this Infinity Gauntlet Thanos needs to rule the universe won’t work without that last stone. Theory is that the Soul Stone (or Soul Gem for you comic fans) is the meteor that hit Wakanda all those centuries ago, hence why their tech is so advanced. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Avengers: Infinity War will premiere in theaters on April 27, 2018.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
