Horizon Zero Dawn Celebrates Anniversary and Over 7 Million Sold

By VeronicaMarch 1, 2018
Horizon Zero Dawn

Today, February 28th, marks the 1-year anniversary of Guerrilla Games’ major success Horizon Zero Dawn. In an official blog post today, it was revealed that Horizon has sold over 7.6 million copies to date, making it the best-selling, original first-party game on the PlayStation 4. Guerrilla Games co-founder Herman Hulst states:

We had huge ambition for Horizon Zero Dawn and as we approached the launch we knew people were excited, but to see sales of this volume is truly mind blowing. Since launch, millions of players have joined Aloy on a quest to discover the secrets of the old ones. We hope they enjoy playing Horizon Zero Dawn as much as we enjoyed making it.

This is a major accomplishment for the Killzone developers, proving that people are excited by refreshingly, well-executed original ideas like Horizon. To celebrate, the PlayStation Store will have a free avatar bundle and dynamic theme available for download on March 1st.

Additionally, there will be discounts on the game as well as some of the Horizon Zero Dawn merchandise on the PlayStation Gear store. You can also pick up some of Aloy’s gear in a Horizon crossover quest in Monster Hunter World until March 15th.

All in all, congratulations to Guerrilla Games on the astounding success of Horizon Zero Dawn. We’re excited to see where this franchise can go in the future!
