Ys Origin Is Heading To Xbox One This Spring

Dotemu, the publisher and developer of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, has just announced they’ll be porting Ys Origin over to the Xbox One. Slated for Spring 2018, Ys Origin will be the first of many projects on Dotemu’s roadmap. The game will be priced at $19.99.

Originally released for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita back in 2017. Ys Origin is revered for being the first Ys title to bring the series to the modern age of consoles. Just like the name suggests, Ys takes place being the other titles in the series. 700 years before the events of Ys I & II to be exact. Which means we won’t see fan favorite, Adol Christin, in this title.

The fast-paced action and epic boss battles will present fans with a unique vantage point from the earliest days of Ys. Newcomers to the series will be able to experience the very beginnings of the cult-like franchise that has been a hit for decades. Explore a deeply involved mystery and unlock secrets through creative puzzles as you trek through a memorable arcade-like platformer and unravel the engrossing story of Ys.

What you can expect with Ys Origins:

  • 3 playable characters, each with unique skillsets and powers
  • Several exciting environments
  • 3 game modes: Story, Time Attack, Arena Mode
  • Numerous artifacts and powerful relics to use
  • Breathtaking art direction
  • Available in Japanese, English, and for the first time in French, Italian, German, and Spanish

This also marks the first time that any of the Ys titles have made the jump to Xbox. That’s pretty exciting as the Xbox platform has been devoid of many JRPGS. Hopefully, this will pave the way for much more to come.
