‘The Incredibles 2’ Olympics Sneak Peek Shows Mr. Incredible’s Adventures in Parenting

By Sara Roncero-MenendezFebruary 15, 2018

Ah, the Olympics. Apparently, the perfect time to drop trailers, especially for the most anticipated animated film of the year. Yes, we got a much longer trailer for The Incredibles 2 which shows how Bob tries to take care of the kids while Helen goes out superheroing.

Directed by Brad Bird, the majority of the cast will be reprising their roles. Craig T. Nelson is Mr. Incredible, Holly Hunter is Elastigirl, Sarah Vowell is Violet, Samuel L. Jackson is Frozone, and Brad Bird is Edna Mode. New cast members include Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Catherine Keener, Sophia Bush, and Isabella Rossilini.

Pixar trailers are known to be misleading. To get the most emotional bang for our buck, they choose to leave out key plot details or only show part of the story. Still, I can’t help feeling like this is structured like a short — Bob is left to take care of the kids, wackiness ensues, while Helen gets to go on an adventure. There clearly has to be more there, but given that the company has had a pretty shaky track record since Brave, I’m afraid to get my hopes up.

Still, there’s the mysterious corporation that wants to bring superhero back, which seems to be cherry-picking who gets to go out and fight. What could this mean for our favorite super family? Hopefully some thrilling adventures that don’t involve just babysitting.

The Incredibles 2 premieres in theaters on June 15, 2018.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
