Peter Dinklage and Charles Dance to Produce ‘Quasimodo’ TV Show

By Sara Roncero-MenendezOctober 16, 2017

You might know them best as Tyrion and Tywin Lannister, but Peter Dinklage and Charles Dance are going into a whole different side of the TV business: executive producing. They will be working on the show Quasimodo, based on Victor Hugo’s famous novel, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Ashely Pharaoh of Life on Mars fame will be writing the show. Tracey Scoffield and David Tanner will also produce, along with Games of Thrones producer Frank Doelger.

Atrium TV is a new association of international streaming and telecommunication platforms launched in April of this year, created by ex-Sony boss Howard Stringer and Jeremy Fox, chairman of British distributor DRG. Basically, it is a company that is looking to compete against the creative teams of other streaming services by producing series for both regional streaming and digital pay platforms. Companies that have already joined Atrium TV include France’s Orange, Germany’s Deutsche Telekom, Spain’s Moviestar, and Asian streaming firm Iflix.

The show will be one of four original shows for the Atrium service. The other three include Jerusalem, a historical drama about the Middle Eastern city, Perfect People, a sci-fi thriller about genetic engineering based on a novel by Peter James, and State of Decay, a zombie thriller based off the gaming franchise of the same name. No word as to when these new shows will be available.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
