Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner – Mars Announced For PS4 And PC

Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner - Mars Announced For PS4 And PC

File this bit of news under “From Out of Nowhere“, because no one saw this coming. It seems that Konami is determined not to be forgotten in the video game scene. Thus they’ve reached way deep into their bag of tricks and pulled out a gem. I’m referring to a favorite series of mine – Zone of the Enders. In fact, Konami is being an updated version out for both the PlayStation 4 and PC, called “Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner – Mars“. This was announced during the Sony Pre-Tokyo Game Show 2017, earlier today.

As the name suggests, we’re getting the second title in the Zone of the Enders series complete with the new pilot – Dingo. This upgraded version will also include enhanced graphics, 4K support, something called “Next-gen Sound” and, VR support. No word if this means either the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, or both on the PC front. Either way, I’m pleased as punch to see Zone of the Enders is still around and kicking – and we’ll get it on the PC as well. Just don’t expect to see this released anytime soon as the release date is set for Spring 2018 – in Japan. No word on when we’ll see this in the West. But we better get this title, you hear me, Konami?

We haven’t seen a title from this series since the Zone of the Enders HD Collection for the PS3 and Xbox 360, back during 2012. The fate of the series was in question since Kojima no longer works for Konami. Here’s hoping this is the start of a revival for Dingo, Leo, and the gang. Zone of the Enders 3, anyone?
