The Cine-Analyst: Episode 15 – Baby Doll

By Sara Roncero-MenendezJune 16, 2017

On this episode of the Cine-Analyst, we talk about Mary Louise Dahl, an actress who also happens to be an adult trapped in a child’s body. Being trapped in a body so much younger than the self, Mary gets stuck in a constant state of regression and frustration, not because of her psyche but because of how others treat her. It’s almost like she was born to be a villain…almost.

Here’s what we talk about this episode:

  • The issue of difference and the self.
  • Never aging is probably the worst thing ever.
  • What would you do to keep your delusion alive?
  • Final Fantasy is when your two psychic fantasies have a show-down.
  • Navigating adulthood is even harder when no one takes you seriously.
  • What a girl (really) wants.

Tune in every Friday as I breakdown fictional characters and talk about what’s going on inside that brain of theirs. Are your favorite heroes crazy or just misunderstood? Find out on this season of The Cine-Analyst!

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
