Rumor: No Mutants or F4 In Marvel vs Capcom Infinite?

By Keith MitchellMay 31, 2017

I’m not a super huge fan of leaks if I haven’t made that clear already. I dislike leaks regardless if it’s coming from a pipe, a drain and definitely if it’s a video game leak. That, the current rumor regarding Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is worth talking about. Sorry folks, news gotta get told!

Apparently, there’s a huge rumor from the same person, Ryce, who leaked the announcement of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. This time it’s surrounding the roster and it has made more than a few people saddened and/or frustrated. There’s a lack of mutants on Marvel side, which includes (or in this case, doesn’t) several fan favorites such as Wolverine, Cyclops, Cable and Jean Grey. What’s more, Ryce is reporting that he was given permission to publish the list. What? Permission to leak the entire roster? Oh boy.

Now, I wouldn’t really take this seriously, except that Ryce has been pretty spot on in the past. So he has some credibility and I’m taking this as being the truth.

This also ties into Marvel and Disney pretty much not wanting to have anything to do with the X-Men, mutants or even the Fantastic Four. Not in the MCU, not in the TV shows (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) and definitely not in the comics. In fact, mutants are currently circling the drain in the most recent comic runs. Ever watch the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie and wondered why Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch weren’t referred to as mutants? Despite both of the being mutants since they were originally introduced into the Marvel Universe?

Now that is bleeding over into Marvel vs Capcom Infinite with the entirety of Marvel’s team not having one single character with the once popular X-gene or from the F4.  This is basically the Marvel Cinematic Universe vs Capcom and that’s a bummer.

Yes folks, if this roster leak is true, this will be the first Marvel vs title, without Wolvey’s  or Doctor Doom’s foot dive.  No… foot… dive!

  • Firebrand
  • Jedah

Team Marvel

  • Gamora
  • Hawkeye
  • Hulk
  • Iron Man
  • Nova
  • Rocket/Groot (Groot with Rocket riding shotgun?)
  • Spider-Man

  • Ultron

There seem to be some characters missing, and why is Ultron there but Sigma isn’t? I really hope that this rumor doesn’t pan out to be true. Because if it is, I don’t know about this game’s future.

We’ll just have to wait for the official announcement which will take place during E3 2017. Get your fingers crossed, maybe we can avert this tragedy.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite releases later this year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam (PC).
