Triple H Posts Cryptic Tweet about the End of NXT?

By Josh PiedraMay 25, 2016

Paul “Triple H” Levesque, the Vice President of Talent Relations for World Wrestling Entertainment, took to Twitter to hype up the upcoming NXT Takeover event on June 8th. However, the tweet he posted was very cryptic.

On June 8th LIVE on @WWENetwork#NXTTakeOver: The End…

Where do we go from here?

— Triple H (@TripleH) May 26, 2016

Of course, many are beginning to speculate that this may be the end of the popular brand.  Pair that with the fact that WWE also announced that Smackdown will be moving to Tuesdays on the USA Network starting on July 19 and you have a recipe for the rumor mill to start churning.

With the WWE Draft coming up, most likely after the Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View event, could NXT’s roster be folded into Raw and Smackdown?  It’s possible; however, NXT as a brand is extremely successful and “The End” could just mean the same thing as Triple H vs The Undertaker a few Wrestlemanias ago: The End of an Era.  We could see a lot of NXT’s talent move to the main roster and a new wave of fresh faces get their opportunity on WWE’s cult third brand.

So far, the following matches have been signed for the Takeover event:

NXT Championship – Steel Cage Match
Samoa Joe(c) vs Finn Balor

Dream Match
Austin Aries vs Shinsuke Nakamura

NXT Tag Team Championship
American Alpha(c) vs The Revival

NXT Women’s Championship
Asuka(c) vs Nia Jax
