Sony’s PSVR Set to Launch in October 2016 for $399

By Keith MitchellMarch 15, 2016

Sony has finally announced its long-awaited trek into VR scene. It has been kicked into overdrive with both the official price of the PlayStation VR, as well as the launch date. Set to be released in October 2016, the PSVR is priced at $399, which puts it at the same price as a PlayStation 4. And if you simply can’t wait to get your hands on it, well you’re in luck as pre-orders will start on March 16, 2016. While it wasn’t announced, I fully expect to see some PlayStation 4 + PSVR bundles being launched, if not at released then around the 2016 holiday shopping season.

Included in the box are the following:

  • PSVR Headset
  • PlayRoom VR Game
  • Processor Unit
  • EarplugsPSVR-pic-layout

This price does not include a PlayStation Camera or Move, both of which need to be used with the unit. And if you’re looking for games, Sony has stated that over 230 developers are currently working on titles for the PSVR and they expect 50 games to available between the launch of the unit, towards the end of 2016. Included those titles are RIGS: Mechanized Combat, Surgeon Simulator, Trackmania Turbo, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, War Thunder, Gran Turismo Sport and Adr1ft.

So there we go, Sony has officially jumped into the VR race and consumers can expect to get their hands on a PSVR, come this October 2016.
