Midgar Studios gives us a peek of the NPC system in Edge of Eternity

By Keith MitchellJanuary 22, 2016

Midgar Studios, the folks behind the upcoming JPRG title, Edge of Eternity, that’s slated for release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, has just provided yet another update on its status. While they’ve been hammering away on their homage to the JRPG games of old, they’ve been taking the time to show to the public what exactly they’re working on, which is great for those who helped Kick-start the project. Being shown off today is what they are calling the NPC system, which allows the NPC’s that you’ll interact with and encounter during your game-play with realistic behaviors, which of course is important if you’re shooting for a realistic environment and atmosphere.

We are working on a intent system for the NPCs that will create realistic behaviors and interact with the environment. It’s an huge thing to create but it’s very important to us. We think it’s important for the journey of our characters and for our players to see how the world lives and that means NPC with credible willpower.
