New Real World Location Based Pokemon Game Announced

By Walter MackSeptember 10, 2015

Coming in 2016 is Pokemon GO, a location based Pokemon game for iOS and Android. Having long used actual locations as inspiration for its ingame cities, fans will now get a chance to play in their real world environment.

Pokemon GO is being developed by Niantic, Inc. which was founded by John Hanke, a co-creator of Google Earth. An optional device called the Pokemon GO plus, resembling a wristwatch can be used as a GPS tracker/game alert for users who don’t want to have to constantly check their phones for new events and Pokemon.

Walter is a California native. He is currently in his last year of college pursuing a B.A. in English, but is often mistaken for a freshman...or a middle school tourist on occassion. His earliest gaming experience was Pokemon Red version on the Gameboy color, which he played actively. He would dabble with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 2 for a bit before transitioning to many years of F2P MMOs. He then moved on to League of Legends, with whom he as an on and off again relationship. He currently spends most of his game time on his Playstation 4. He's also a bit of a Marvel nut.
