XCOM 2 Announced!

By Aaron SandersJune 1, 2015

Last week we got a cryptic message from 2K in the form of AdventFuture.org and today IGN First revealed that message to be the announcement of XCOM 2!

Being published by 2K and developed by Firaxis Games, XCOM 2 is the sequel to 2012’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown. In the sequel, 20 years have past and aliens have taken over to establish the Advent government. XCOM is now an underground guerrilla operation tasked with overthrowing the Advent Administration and saving humanity.

The latest installment in the classic turn-based strategy series will focus on stealth and include a number of new features; including, procedurally generated maps, mod support, new aliens, and new updated soldier classes.

In the press release, Firaxis Games’ creative director Jake Solomon said:

“The feedback from the passionate XCOM community played an important role in the development of XCOM 2, driving us to push the visual, gameplay and replayability boundaries of what a strategy game can be. We’re thrilled to implement long-time fan requested features such as procedural levels and modding support, as well as adding more of what makes XCOM great like new aliens, enemies and soldier classes.”

XCOM 2 will release on PC in November with Feral Interactive releasing versions for Mac and Linux at a later date.
