The Outerhaven Three Count #1 – John Cena, meet Kevin Owens; Kevin Owens, meet Samoa Joe

By Clinton Bowman-ChristieMay 25, 2015

Clinton Bowman, here. Today I’m introducing the first of what is hopefully a full blown series of columns by yours truly, The Outerhaven Three Count. The #O3C, if you want to get your Social Media on, is a column where I take the week in WWE television and pick my three favorite moments out of Raw, SmackDown, NXT and the various Network Specials and Pay-Per-View events.

Why am I introducing professional wrestling talk into a geek culture website?

The main reason is simply that wrestling is part of geek culture. It’s a special niche with in the niche, that a significant amount of people enjoy. It’s silly, it’s over the top, and personally, I’ve spent 25 years watching the stuff. I simply want to share my love for the product with everyone who reads The Outerhaven on a regular basis!

I don’t want to spoil too much for you guys, but here we go!

#3: Dean Ambrose gets his title shot…at the expense of a beat down by the Authority (Raw, May 18th, 2015)

Stephanie McMahon returns to RAW.

Sometimes, to get what you want, you have to take a few lumps. The beginning of Raw saw Authority figureheads, Triple H and his wife Stephanie McMahon (who I will affectionately refer to as Stephy Mac from here on in,) celebrating WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins’ victory at WWE Payback this past Sunday. Stephy Mac and Trips pretty much laid it out there that Randy Orton, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose would have to make their way to the back of the line, as they’ve no other chances at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and announcing a celebration for Seth Rollins at the end of the night, known as “Seth Rollins: Architect of a Dream.” More on that later.

Fast Forward a few moments later, Dean Ambrose barges into the Authority’s office demanding a title match at Elimination Chamber against Seth Rollins, setting up a match against Bray Wyatt, who he loses to, thus losing the opportunity for the title.

Dean Ambrose gets his title shot against Seth Rollins after a little persuasion.

Remember when I mentioned “Seth Rollins: Architect of a Dream?” The Authority welcomes the WWE World Champion at the end of the night, as they shower him with praise and compliments for being what’s “best for business.” As Joey Mercury begins to talk, out comes Dean Ambrose, who demands his title opportunity. Stephy Mac, in true McMahon fashion, reminds Ambrose that he lost, and he doesn’t deserve a chance at the World Champion. Dean begs to differ, and knocks Rollins out of the ring, and they begin brawling at ringside. After throwing the champion over the announcer’s table, Ambrose reveals hidden cinder blocks, and threatens to bash Seth’s head in, as Stephanie and Triple H give him the championship opportunity at Elimination Chamber. However, that wouldn’t be the end of it, as Seth gets the upper hand, leveling Ambrose with a Pedigree.
