Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness announced for PS3/PS4

By Keith MitchellApril 14, 2015

Looks like fans of the Star Ocean RPG series are in luck as Famitsu is reporting that a new game, Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness, is being developed for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.  All hope for a sequel back were dashed earlier this year when the company that develops Star Ocean, Tri-ace, was purchased by mobile company Nepro. Looks like those fears have been put to rest. The title will be published by Square-Enix.

Star Ocean 5 will be set on an uncivilized planet called “Fakelead”, which is 6000 light years away from Earth. The battle system is stated to be seamless and instead of the traditional turn based action, the battles will happen in real-time.

This will be the 5th game in the series and comes no more than 6 years after the release of Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope that was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in 2009.

Sadly there hasn’t been any news on a North American / Western release, but at the same there is no release date as of yet. And while only one Star Ocean has never made it over to the North American region, which was Star Ocean: Blue Sphere, which never saw a release outside of Japan. And this will also mark yet another Japanese developed title that has not been announced for the Xbox One platform.

The story and details are still developing and Gemastu has been keeping a running tab on what’s going on and what is currently known, so go check the details over at Gemastu.com
