Today Disney held a meeting with their shareholders. This meeting included the reveal of the first spin-off movie, Star Wars Rogue One coming December 16, 2016, and the release date for Episode VIII, May 26, 2017.
As expected, little information was released about the two movies. What we did learn about the spin-off was that it is titled Rogue One, it will be written by Chris Weitz, Felicity Jones is the first actor attached to the movie, and it is coming out December 16, 2016. We already knew that Godzilla’s Gareth Edwards will be directing.
What we learned about Star Wars: Episode VIII is that is will be released May 26, 2017 and it will be directed by Looper’s Rian Johnson.
While we still have Episode VII to worry about, we now know when the saga will continue.
