So Is Marvel Cancelling Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Or Not?

By Keith MitchellMay 23, 2012

Previously myself and Carlos were discussing the current status of Saturday & Sunday morning cartoons and during that conversation he had mentioned to me that Marvel had stated that they were cancelling “Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” to make way for a more kid friendly Avengers show that somehow ties in with “Ultimate Spiderman”.  Of course I called his buff and began to investigate this issue for myself and sure enough the signs were there.

Sure there have been several convicting reports as to what and why Marvel is doing this, however they all still point to the end is nigh for our animated super tandem, at least in this specific format.  There hasn’t been any official announcement for this as of yet which makes sense seeing that the current run still has about 10-11 episodes left which will last them well into the summer and announcing this now would really put a bad taste in the mouths of the thousands of fans of the show.

Obviously I wasn’t the only person who was upset on the entire series of events, seems that ComicBookMovie.com (Hey Guys!) dug into this as well and did their own research on the matter. They were able to find out several sources as to what is happening and why;

LOEB: That’s certainly something that we’re talking about. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has a tremendous following. One of the things that’s very unique about that show is that it was at a time prior to my coming in. It is a very serialized show, and there are a lot of characters. What we wanted to do with Spider-Man, and going forward, was to tell stories that are individualized. Obviously, we want everybody to watch the show every week, but we also know that people’s time is often taken. So, DVR the show, but if you’re not going to do that, the idea is that you will be able to catch up. I don’t ever want anybody to sit down on Sunday mornings at 11 o’clock and suddenly feel like, “Well, I lost the last three episodes, so I don’t really know what’s going on.” The only thing that is a two-parter is the pilot, which will actually be shown in its entirety on Sunday, April 1st.

Why Marvel? Why?

So back to our question; So Is Marvel Cancelling Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Or Not? Sadly it seems the magic 8ball I stole from Diablo (Yes I love Diablo III) is saying yes. Better watch / DVR what you can true believers cause this looks like the end of Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Seems Marvel has a really good track record (BAD) for cancelling successful super hero shows.
