So The Announced Toonami Line-up & Times Are Pretty Meh

By Keith MitchellMay 23, 2012

Recently we were happen to report that the Cartoon Network / Adult Swim was finally bringing back a cult classic, Toonami, to the airwaves. We were hoping this was an attempt to fill the void that was created thanks to both Verizon and Funimatiom who were not able to come to an agreement and eventually forced the Funimation channel on Fios to go bye-bye. But things aren’t what they seem…..

Let’s start with the currently announced schedule for Toonami, are you ready?

  1.     12:00AM – Bleach
  2.     12:30AM – Deadman Wonderland
  3.     1:00AM –  Casshern Sins
  4.     1:30AM –  Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
  5.     2:00AM – Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2nd GIG
  6.     2:30AM – Cowboy Bebop

Are you still excited? We get to see not one, not two but three shows that we’ve seen more times that we like to recall. Add FHA:B to the list if you’ve caught it on another station or Netflix and Casshern Sins is so-so at best. Don’t get me wrong, I love Bleach, Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2nd GIG and Cowboy Bebop but c’mon! Well at least we won’t have to put up with more Dragonball Z or Naruto runs.

Oh what else, oh that’s right we also won’t get to see Sara accompany good olde Tom due lack of funds that Toonami currently has, so Tom will have to make due being by his lonesome.  I don’t want to sound ungrateful cause I truely am not. I totally understand that this is a complete long shot and an experiment at best but let’s be honest folks. It seems the goal is to gather enough viewers to get more funding which will enable them to get more animation added to the line-up. I’m with them so far. However the time the shows are slotted for are terrible. From 12AM to 2:30AM and then again from 3:30AM to 6AM? Who’s going to be up to watch it?

Doesn’t seem like a snowball’s chance in hell this is going to workout but I sure hope it does!
