Dragon’s Dogma 2 will feature fast travel in the form of oxcarts

By Keith MitchellNovember 22, 2023
Dragon's Dogma 2 announcement.

While the upcoming Dragon’s Dogma 2 Showcase doesn’t occur until next week, on November 28th, 2023, that doesn’t mean that Capcom isn’t to hold back from spoiling us until then. In a recent post on Twitter (I will not call it X), the developer dropped an interesting tidbit of information.

In a different way of fast travel, oxcarts will travel between essential locations such as towns, border checkpoints, and villages. And it so happens that you can climb aboard them and catch a nap while waiting for the cart to reach its destination. However, it’s quite possible that the oxcart can also be attacked at any random time.

Regardless, it does seem like being able to grab an oxcart and chill until you get to where you need to be is an interesting idea. Having them being attacked along the way could yield special quests or even items for defeating your aggressors. I like the idea and look forward to seeing it in action firsthand.

Check out the trailer below to see this in action.

While we don’t have an exact release date, it would seem that the release date has been leaked, and according to that leak, Dragon’s Dogma 2 may be released on March 22, 2024, for the PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While most leaks end up being correct, we’ll wait until Capcom gives us the official release date before we start getting excited.

And while we wait for Dragon’s Dogma 2 to be released, the original game is on sale at various locations and for cheap (Thanks to Wario64 for that tidbit). If you haven’t played it, why not check it out?
