Xenoblade Chronicles Team Reportedly Working On New “Legacy” Project

By Todd BlackMay 29, 2024
Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Monolith Soft

If you’ve been here long enough, you’ll know that I love the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise. It took me a while to get into it fully, but once 2 & 3 hit the Switch, and I finally got to play a good version of the original title, I got to see just how grand the works of Monolith Soft were. And yes, I’m still hoping X gets ported…MAKE IT HAPPEN, NINTENDO!!!! Anyway, Monolith Soft is one of the best in the business right now, and so you can imagine my joy when I heard they’re working on a new project!

As you can see in the tweet below, this project’s codename is “Legacy.” What that means is obviously unclear, as it could mean anything from the legacy of a past project to a new IP that focuses on the concept of legacy, and so on.

According to Midori, Monolith Soft is working on a project codenamed “Legacy” with Nintendo. pic.twitter.com/nGtfowB0aE

That doesn’t mean that Xenoblade Chronicles 4 won’t happen, either. The team has already spoken on this and said it could happen depending on the story, especially since there are still elements to the story that are unanswered. For now, though, we can enjoy the fact that they’re making something, and it’s likely to be something that comes out on the Switch successor.
