Samurai Shodown Rollback Netcode Update Available PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC

By Keith MitchellMay 23, 2024
Samurai Shodown rollback netcode live for most platforms.

Samurai Shodown Rollback Netcode Update is now available on all platforms! As of today, Samurai Shodown now supports Rollback Netcode for the PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Epic Games Store). These platforms join the PC (Steam) version already updated in June 2023. Sadly, the game’s Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions will not receive this update.

SNK has been teasing that its weapons-based 2D fighting game, Samurai Shodown, will be updated with Rollback Netcode for a while now. Initially, the update was supposed to be released in Summer 2023, but it was pushed back to an unknown date. I’m sure fans of the game on these platforms will be happy to see that this update is officially here.

If you aren’t familiar with Rollback Netcode, it’s the best form of netcode for a fighting game, and most players won’t even play a game online with this netcode. Isn’t it included.

Rollback Netcode, in a nutshell, helps minimize delay when playing a game online. As the name suggests, the system does its best to predict what the next input from players will be, and when it’s wrong, the game state is rolled back to the correct state. For most of the time, the system is nearly 100% accurate, which is why it’s the most preferred method of online netcode.

Check out this link for a complete breakdown of how Rollback Netcode works.
