Nintendo of America Gets Big Acquisition In 3rd Party Department

Nintendo

The future of the gaming industry is in a state of curiosity more than anything else. Why? Because all three main console publishers are dealing with “uncertain futures” in one form or another. For Microsoft and Sony, they’ve been doing massive layoffs and haven’t been getting the returns on games that they’ve desired. As for Nintendo, the Switch’s lifetime is coming to an end, and many wonder if they’ll be able to make a worthy follow-up to this legendary system. Thankfully, it seems as though Nintendo of America is making moves to help ensure that things get done right.

How so? Well, as Nintendo insider Stealth noted online via a post from the person we’re about to discuss, Nintendo of America has hired Gio Corsi to be part of their “AAA 3rd Party Management Crew.” You can see the posts below:

Gio Corsi (Former PlayStation Director of 3rd Party Games) announced he's joining Nintendo as part of the 3rd Party Team.

This is a very big win for Nintendo as we move to Switch's successor. https://t.co/MJz5actg60

So what does this mean? Simply put, the Nintendo Switch was The Big N’s best 3rd party system in some time. However, even with the great 3rd party titles it had, there were some key ones that didn’t get onto the platform, and others that didn’t even bother trying to optimize for the Switch. With Gio, that might change, and help ensure that the next system, whatever it is, will have great 3rd party support right out the gate, with developers clamoring to try and put their games on Nintendo’s next platform.

Only time will tell how well Gio does in his role.
