Will Terry Silver Make An Appearance in Cobra Kai Season 4?

By Keith MitchellJanuary 4, 2021
Kreese meets with Terry Silvers - Karate Kid III

Is another Karate Kid villain joining up in Season 4?

Hopefully, by now, most of you have watched the sensational Cobra Kai Season 3 or read our review – but we’re about to get into spoiler territory. So if you haven’t, please turn away. Otherwise, don’t blame me (us) if we ruin the show for you.

Alright, you’re still here, let’s go.

Although out Cobra Season 3, we were introduced to the backstory of the season’s front runner villain, John Kreese. These helped fill in many blanks regarding the character’s past, including why he joined the army, why he became the man we know today. However, they also showed in a different light, one that wasn’t seen during the Karate Kid moves or even in Cobra Kai. You see, John Kresse was actually likable, and he had friends.

One such friend, we’re introduced to in the final episode of Season 3, “December 19”, who goes by the name of Twig.  While I won’t go into detail, just if someone was reading into this and didn’t watch the episode, Kreese saves Twig when they were in the military and captured. Being sadists, the captors pitted the capture men and their squad to fight against each other to the death. Twig was fated to go up against the squad’s officer, the same person who trained them all and was likely going to be killed. This is when Kreese stepped in and took his place, and the rest is history.

Terry Silver sneaks about

Kreese ultimately bests the officer, drops him into a snake-infested pit, and rescues the captured men during a military strike. It’s during this time that the wheels in my head started turning as Twig turns to Kresse and tells him, “I owe you, man. You saved my ass. Anything you need… I’m there for you—your whole life. You hear me, Johnny? Your whole life! I owe you.” That specific sequence of words tells you that Kreese still has some allies and likely an ace card in his pocket.

It’s been Silver who Kreese has turned to in the past. Silver set up the Cobra Kai dojo for Kreese, and it was Silver who, time and time again, helped his friend in need. Fast-forward to the end of the episode, Kreese gets his ass handed to him, first by Johnny, followed up by Daniel. It’s then that Kreese looks desperate and decides to make a phone call. I can only imagine that the person on the other end of the line is Twig.

But who is Twig? That’s a good question, and only a few select persons know. However, we can speculate as we tend to do. I want to think that Twig is none other than Terry Silver, who made life interesting for Daniel and the late Mr. Miyagi along with Kreese. But why Terry Silver? Well, for starters, the pair go way back. They both served in the military, and Kreese has made a habit of saving Silver. Silver is also a business person who has made lots of money and the founder of Cobra Kai. He’s also the only other character who we’ve ever seen allying themselves with Kreese. Back in Karate Kid III, Silver fooled Daniel and attempted to form a rift between him and Mr. Miyagi, which nearly succeeded and tried to embarrass Daniel. A plan he masterminded with Kreese’s assistance.

We also know that Twig is Silver. This was confirmed in episode 6, “King Cobra” when the group was initially captured, and one was executed. It was then that Twig lost his composure and the commanding officer replied, “Shut your goddamn mouth, Silver .”

Twigs is Silvers

This would be the second time that Silver was mentioned in the series. The first is when Kreese first arrived in Season 2, and during a conversation with Johnny, it was mentioned that an old friend of Kreese offered him a job. But he didn’t take it because it felt like a handout. Again, Kreese is a successful businessman who likely has connections and could have extended a job to Kreese, who was too proud to take it. Or maybe that’s what he wants us all to think.

It would make perfect sense to introduce Silver, again as an ally to Kreese. Especially since he needs all the help, he can get with Daniel’s and Johnny’s dojos combined. However, if Silver does make an appearance, I doubt he’ll be alone. Wherever Silver goes, chances are Mike Barnes, the same character who nearly kicked Daniels’s ass in Karate Kid III, will likely be in tow. At least, we can hope that he does in Cobra Kai Season 4.

What do you think? Is Twig/Terry Silver going to be in Season 4? Or is it all a red herring to throw us off track? Sound off in the comments!
