WEBTOON Entertainment Inc., a leading global entertainment company and home to some of the world’s largest storytelling platforms, and SONICdream, the creative label founded by DJ/producer Slushii, today announced Sapient Dream, a new shonen action webcomic created by Julian Scanlan – the real name of Slushii – and anime producer Rob Pereyda. The original series is produced by Merryweather Media and will debut exclusively on WEBTOON’s English-language platform on July 6, 2025.
An action-packed sci-fi adventure, Sapient Dream is where music and manga collide in a bold, creative vision from Slushii that builds off his smash hit song, Past Lives (over 16 billion streams on TikTok and YouTube combined). Each episode will feature brand-new immersive music overlays created just for WEBTOON that interplay with Slushii’s upcoming Chrysalis album, creating a dynamic, multi-sensory webcomic experience for fans.
Sapient Dream follows Kuro, a seemingly average high schooler plagued by vivid, surreal dreams. When he rescues a mysterious alien sludge monster, Kuro is thrust into a galaxy-spanning battle against dark forces that threaten his reality — and his identity. As Kuro unlocks unexpected powers and forms unlikely alliances, he must confront the nightmare that connects his dreams to the fate of the universe.

Fans can join Slushii and WEBTOON at Anime Expo 2025 for a joint panel appearance about Sapient Dream, a meet & greet at the WEBTOON Booth (Entertainment Hall E-90), and a special Anime Expo concert!
