WEBTOON Entertainment Inc. today announced a new partnership with Saturday AM, bringing a slate of the publisher’s most popular series from BIPOC creators to WEBTOON’s English-language platform. The first wave of series reformatted for WEBTOON’s vertical scroll, including CLOCK STRIKER, APPLE BLACK, and HAMMER, is set to launch in Fall 2025.

WEBTOON

Saturday AM is renowned for spotlighting underrepresented voices in the global comics industry, translating its stories into five languages and distributing them in nearly 40 countries. Founded in 2013 by Frederick L. Jones, with artists Odunze Oguguo (Whyt Manga) and Raymond Brown, the brand has been a pioneer in publishing manga that reflects the real-world diversity of its readers.

Through this collaboration, WEBTOON and Saturday AM will further expand the reach of these powerful stories, featuring creators and characters across a wide range of backgrounds, races, ethnicities, genders, and sexualities.

“This partnership with WEBTOON continues our efforts to normalize diverse representation in manga by offering audiences a secure and accessible format for our award-winning content,” said Frederick L. Jones, Founder and Publisher of Saturday AM, “As a black man, I’ve long believed that manga is culture much like HIP HOP and benefits when it reflects the wide world around us. We deeply share WEBTOON’s efforts to bring more people to comics on a global scale and can’t wait for people to experience our joint plans.”

“As a trailblazer championing diverse talent and stories, Saturday AM is the perfect partner to bring more incredible new voices to WEBTOON,” said Ryan Lee, Head of US Content at WEBTOON Entertainment. “Their work has helped open doors for a new generation of creators, and we share their commitment to making comics more inclusive and reflective of the world around us.”

Saturday AM series will launch on WEBTOON throughout the second half of 2025, including:

  • CLOCK STRIKER – The first black female lead hero in shonen manga history, CLOCK STRIKER is beloved around the world (including Japan) and follows Cast, a young engineer who trains to become a legendary warrior known as a SMITH.
  • APPLE BLACK – One of the most popular manga from Africa, APPLE BLACK is the creation of popular YouTuber Odunze Oguguo (Whyt Manga, Nigeria), and follows a powerful young sorcerer destined to save the world!
  • HAMMER– This fantasy adventure with heart follows Stud, a young mischievous boy who searches for clues to his dad’s mysterious travels and is armed with the ability to turn his fist into a HAMMER!
  • Additional titles include: MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER WORLD OF GHOSTS, TITAN KING, and GUNHILD.

Launch dates for each series will be announced at a later date.
