Wrestling is a special thing all over the world, and in Mexico, it’s basically a religion. Trust me on this, they take it VERY seriously. Today, The Pokemon Company dropped a new trailer for Pokemon Legends Z-A, where they showed off Mega Hawlucha, which was heavily inspired by the many Luchadors that Mexico has birthed over the decades. In a twist, though, the company has revealed that they’re teaming up with Mexico’s oldest wrestling promotion, CMLL, to promote the game! I’m pretty sure this is a first for both Pokémon and the wrestling industry.
In a press release obtained by Fightful, The Pokemon Company broke down this special collaboration:
If you’re hoping to see even more high-flying action, look no further than a special collaboration between Pokémon and the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) at the Pokémon Legends: Z-A × CMLL Event. Pokémon and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre are partnering up to showcase lucha libre—a traditional style of Mexican wrestling—at its finest.
The event will take place on September 25, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. PDT (local time 7:00 p.m. CST) at Arena México in Mexico City, Mexico, with tickets soon to be available on Ticketmaster. The match will also be broadcast on the official CMLL YouTube channel for fans all around the world to see!
So, yeah, this is real, and you can get tickets here! As a wrestling fan, this is pretty awesome, especially since CMLL was just at AEW Forbidden Door this past Sunday and had a nice impact there. Oh, and if you’re wondering how loud and passionate the fans at Arena Mexico can be…here you go:
