The Legend Of Zelda Movie To Release In 2027

By Todd BlackMarch 28, 2025
Legend of Zelda - Link - Fan Art

After the success of the animated Super Mario Bros Movie, it was inevitable that Nintendo would look to another of its properties and see what they could make to try and replicate its success. The franchise they chose, and the visual medium they put with it, was surprising, as The Legend of Zelda Movie will be a live-action affair this time around. While there are many details about the film we don’t know, there is one that we now know that’s important: it’s release date. Yesterday, Nintendo dropped the “Nintendo Today” news app, and the update for today was the film’s release date.

As you can see in the Twitter post below, The Legend of Zelda Movie will be released on March 26th, 2027.

Yes, it’s true. We’re now only two years away from the film coming out, and that would give an indication that things are farther along than initially thought. Whether this means we’ll get casting announcements soon or “first glimpses” of filming itself remains to be seen, but it is something to think about, and hope that Nintendo Today will deliver on in the future.

In the meantime, don’t forget to listen to the latest episode of the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast for our thoughts on the latest Nintendo Direct and beyond!
