The First Berserker: Khazan’s New Update Brings Brutal Boss Rush Modes

By Keith MitchellMay 9, 2025

Just when you thought The First Berserker: Khazan couldn’t get any more intense, Nexon decides to kick things up another notch. In a recent trailer, the team unveiled two brand-new boss rush modes headed to the game as part of a major update on May 15th, 2025.

Once you’ve powered through the main story and hit the credits, a new menu option will appear on the title screen. It’s your gateway to Khazan’s ultimate challenge: two distinct boss rush modes, Great General’s Crucible, and Berserker’s Bloodshed. These are only available after beating the game and for good reason. Every boss is tied closely to the narrative, so this update keeps the spoilers locked away until you’ve earned your stripes. So, if you haven’t beaten the game yet, maybe do that before the update gets here.

Here’s what these new modes are all about.

Great General’s Crucible: This one’s all about themed boss encounters. You’ll face off against groups of enemies in a specific order, with your gear, level, and skills locked in per round. No cheese builds here. Just raw skill and strategy. Clear all of them, and you’ll walk away with a unique reward.

Berserker’s Bloodshed: This is the more chaotic option. You’ll go toe-to-toe with a series of bosses, gaining strength and rewards as you go. If you can push through and defeat the final boss, you’ll unlock powerful new weapons and set gear. It’s a gauntlet, and it’s brutal, in the best way.  And damn if that doesn’t sound like the kind of fun that Soulslike fan enjoy.

So, if you thought that end game was, well, the end game, and you’ve done all there was to do. Get ready, because Nexon is about to make you dive back into the game, and that’s not so bad.

The First Berserker: Khazan is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
