Alex’s New Street Fighter 6 Design Gets Official Tease From Capcom

By Kevin KellyJanuary 12, 2026
Alex goes to war in Street Fighter VI

Street Fighter 6 will be adding its second new Season 4 character in the coming months, and Capcom has officially teased Alex’s return with a short cinematic trailer.

In the teaser, Alex is shown patrolling Metro City, squaring off against yet another familiar Final Fight-style bruiser. This time, Andore appears to be the unlucky opponent — and interestingly, he’s referred to as “Andore” rather than using the Hugo name tied to his later appearances in Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact. Poison, his usual “manager,” is also nowhere to be seen.

You can check out Alex’s new look in action below.

lex is sporting a noticeably different design this time around, and fans are already speculating that the former Street Fighter III poster boy could be getting a darker edge, possibly even a heel turn,  compared to his usual heroic vibe. Alex first entered the Street Fighter timeline in Street Fighter III and has shown up in several later titles, including appearances outside the mainline series like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

Could this be teasing a deeper Metro City storyline? Maybe even a nod to Capcom’s classic wrestling universe like Saturday Night Slam Masters, setting the stage for Mike Haggar? Or is this something more personal, like revenge tied to his past defeats (including clashes with Ryu)?

Even in this short tease, Alex is shown using familiar signature moves, including a kick variation, the Stungun Headbutt, and the Power Bomb. Everything about him feels heavier and more aggressive this time, especially with the jacket and darker presentation. Either way, it’s a welcome surprise to see Alex stepping back into the spotlight.

Unlike other would-be “Ryu replacements” over the years, Alex remains one of Capcom’s most interesting creations: a fighter with a clear identity and motivation beyond simply being “the next main character.” Characters like Rashid, Abel, and others have come and gone, and while Luke is clearly being positioned as the modern face of the series, a lot of fans still aren’t fully sold.

Alex will be added as a playable character in Street Fighter 6 in Spring 2026. No official gameplay has been shown yet.
