SEGA Drops Fresh Look at SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance’s Stunning Neo City Stage

SEGA just dropped a new look at SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, and if you weren’t already hyped, the latest gameplay footage might just change that. This new trailer showcases the neon-lit chaos of Neo City, one of the many hand-crafted levels coming to the game, and it looks phenomenal.

In addition, the trailer provides a bit more info that we didn’t already know, that being that the enemies you’ll encounter in the game aren’t just one-hit and die cannon fodder. These enemies can take a few hits to take them out, and have their own life bar, meaning they won’t be push-overs.

Check out the trailer below.

Developed in collaboration with Lizardcube (the same team behind the stunning Streets of Rage 4), SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is shaping up to be a must-play revival of the classic ninja series. This isn’t just a nostalgia trip. It’s a fully modern, gorgeously animated 2D action platformer that’s not afraid to flex its digital ninja skills.

Every frame of Neo City pops with detail—blade sparks, cyberpunk grit, slick animations—it’s all here. You can tell this is coming from a team that knows how to blend classic gameplay with modern style.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance slices its way onto PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch on August 29, 2025.
