Pokemon Legends Z-A Doing Monster Numbers In Japan

So now imagine the numbers in the other big markets!

Pokemon Legends Z-A, Tears of the Kingdom

With the release of Pokemon Legends Z-A on the Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo is gearing up for a two-month period of big releases. The question on everyone’s mind is how well each game will do, and how that will lead to overall sales for the consoles and software. Thankfully, Famitsu has provided us with the answer for how well the latest Pokémon game will do, and has revealed the launch week numbers for the title, and it is a massive number, regardless of which console you got it on.

For the OG Switch, Pokemon Legends Z-A sold 872,552 physical units. Then, for the Switch 2, it sold 612,905 units. That’s significant for multiple reasons, not the least of which is that it sold well across BOTH platforms, with only about 250K in difference. That’s impressive given how many Switch 2 units are in Japan right now, about 2.2 million sold, and how long the OG Switch has been out.

Second, that’s nearly 1.5 million units sold combined in under a week. In fact, the Famitsu numbers ended on the 19th, which was Sunday, so it’s undoubtedly sold more units since then. Plus, as noted, those numbers were just for physical copies of the game. It’s highly likely that many more people got the game in digital form.

So, when you add that all up, and consider how popular the Pokémon franchise is in other markets, Nintendo is absolutely set for a huge launch number across all territories, and it’ll guaranteed be a million-seller across both Switch platforms.
