Omori Webcomic and Video Game Receives Manga Adaptation

By Josh PiedraNovember 22, 2023

It was announced that the webcomic Omori will be receiving a manga adaptation. Omori’s webcomic was also adapted into a turn-based RPG by OMO CAT. The manga is set to be serialized by Kodansha in their monthly Afternoon magazine. Nui Konoito will be illustrating the series.

Omori follows a boy named Sunny who is a hikkomori (shut-in). The webcomic explores his day-to-day life and all of the struggles he goes through which includes dealing with depression and thoughts of suicide. It also follows Omori inside of a surreal dream world which is Sunny’s alter ego. Here, he struggles to suppress his fears and forgotten secrets.

Currently, there is no date announced for when the manga will begin serialization.

The game was released in 2020 for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4. Additional content was added in June 2022. It is also available on MacOS and Windows. The game won the Daringly Dramatic award at Dreamhack in 2023 and as of December 2022, has sold over 1 million copies.
