Nintendo Switch 2 Gets More Praise From Randy Pitchford

What could he be teasing here...?
By Todd BlackSeptember 1, 2025
Borderlands 4 is releasing very soon!, Randy Pitchford, Nintendo Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 is the hottest console on the market right now, and with potential new titles being announced soon, it’s more imperative than ever that The Big N bring more 3rd parties to the mix to not only port their games to the console but possibly make exclusives for them over time. One such company they could do more work with is Gearbox Software, headed up by Randy Pitchford. He hasn’t been shy in the past about praising the Switch 2, including doing a Creator’s Voice video about the upcoming Switch 2 versions of Borderlands 4.

However, in an interview with GameRadar, Randy Pitchford talked about not only the team’s present with the console, but its potential future:

“I love Switch, and I love my Switch 2. And I think that without getting in trouble and trying to talk about things that are from the future, we love making games, and we love entertaining people, and we want to be on the platforms where the people that want us to be are. And Nintendo just had the most successful new console launch in the history of video game consoles, and I don’t think that’s slowing down. I love that platform, and I want to bring more games to it… it’s really not the right time for me to talk about games that are down the road.”

The question here is, “What could he be teasing?” It’s hard to say. The Nintendo Switch 2 does provide options that other consoles don’t, and because it’s got more power than the OG Switch, teams like Gearbox Software can do more without having to fear “hardware restrictions.” Only Randy knows what he has in mind for the console, though.
