Nintendo Pictures Releases Statement On “Close To You” Videos

By Todd BlackOctober 9, 2025
Nintendo Pictures

The other day, a unique video popped up on Nintendo’s channels. It was titled “Close To You,” and it featured a baby dealing with some “invisible entities” in an animated piece that honestly looked a lot like a Pixar video. The video was later put onto the Nintendo Today app, with the reveal that the “entities” were actually Pikmin. Many wondered if this was a teaser for a new title in the franchise. Instead, it was revealed that the piece was made by Nintendo Pictures, and that this would be the first of many to come.

On Twitter, the team made the following post:

“How were the two “Close to You” videos released consecutively for two days starting from October 7th? The second video can be viewed on Nintendo Today! These are the first short movies produced by Nintendo Pictures. Nintendo Pictures will continue to take on various challenges with videos in the future.”

Based on this, it’s clear that there will be more animated features in the future, and that’s something to look forward to. Nintendo has had a “mission” of sorts to spread its IP through various means and media, and this would be a great way to do so. You can do a lot in a few minutes if it’s blocked out properly. The only question is, who will be next to get the “tap?” Mario? Donkey Kong? Team Star Fox? The Inklings? The possibilities are nearly endless.
