Nintendo Direct September 2025 Recap – Mario, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, DLC, and Release Dates!

What a packed show!

Nintendo Direct September 2025

A nintendo Direct was what many were asking for, especially when trying to figure out when we would play the next big Switch 2 games, and what titles we had to look forward to in 2026. Thankfully, The Big N did indeed give us some answers, alongside some key surprises and a few shocking twists! My Nintendo direct September 2025 Recap will highlight the biggest announcements from the presentation. Shall we begin?

The first 20 minutes of the Direct were focused on the Super Mario Bros 40th anniversary, which some suspected would happen. The big reveal to kick things off was that of the announcement of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie…which will drop next April! Yeah, that was quick!

Both Shigeru Miyamoto and the head of Illumination promised a big sequel, and one that would take inspiration from the original Galaxy titles, while also paying tribute to other games in the franchise. Oh, but if you want to play those legendary Nintendo Wii titles on the Switch/Switch 2…you can do that very soon:

The Mario announcements didn’t stop there, as we got confirmation of a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for Super Mario Bros Wonder, which will add an all-new multiplayer park for gamers to have fun with. And, we got two brand-new game announcements featuring members of the Mushroom Kingdom! First, how’s your serve looking?

Mario Tennis Fever is the second sport-focused Mario title on the Nintendo Switch 2, and it’ll help kick off the 2026 lineup when it launches next February! Then, the Nintendo Direct showcased the return of Yoshi via a brand new adventure!

Mario & company got a lot of love today, but they weren’t the only ones to get some cool reveals. For example, on the 3rd party side, we got a January release date for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, and found out that Hades 2 will be a timed console exclusive for the Switch line of consoles! We even got the announcement of the Dragon Quest VII remake! Then, there was a certain 3rd-party collaboration that finally got a release date…

Yes, Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment will launch on November 6th! Oh, and speaking of release dates…

Yep. The thing that everyone wanted from this Nintendo Direct September 2025 recap, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, is coming on December 4th, and Samus gets to ride a motorcycle!!! As if she couldn’t get any cooler! It appears Metroid is finally getting true open-world gameplay, and that’s pretty epic.

If you want another set of Nintendo-themed surprises, you’re in luck, because arguably the biggest surprise is something you can enjoy today, thanks to Donkey Kong Bananza!

The DLC will take you to DK Island and allow you to search for new treasures in a fun adventure both above and below ground! The DLC is out TODAY! Plus, a demo of the main game for those who haven’t played it yet. Read my review and trust me, it’s worth playing!

Then, there was this announcement that no one likely saw coming:

There were rumors of a new Pokémon spinoff, but I don’t think anyone thought Pokémon Pokopia would be what would be shown! This will definitely scratch a certain itch for players of certain franchises, and it looks rather adorable, so why not?

Pokémon wasn’t done there, as their upcoming title not only got a new trailer, but they already confirmed that Pokémon Legends Z-A will have a special DLC called “Mega Dimensions” that’ll feature two Mega-Evolved forms of Raichu!

The game itself arrives on October 16th, so be sure to be ready for your new adventure in Lumiose City!

The final two announcements were definitely a case of “tonal shift.” For example, Capcom confirmed that the last three mainline Resident Evil titles, including the upcoming Requiem, will drop on Switch 2 next March!

Finally, and arguably most important, the Nintendo Direct revealed a new Fire Emblem entry!

Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave will focus on the tales of four characters, each with different goals, abilities, and desires. According to Nintendo, their stories will truly interweave with one another, and…wait, is that a grown-up version of Sothis? What’s she doing here?!?

And thus ends my Nintendo Direct September 2025 recap! What did you think of the Direct as a whole? What were your favorite announcements within it? Let me know in the comments below, and be sure to listen to the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast next week to hear our full thoughts on the Direct!
